The board also amended the fiscal year 2026 budget to support community programs. Nearly $460,000 was reallocated to Sportable for adaptive programming, while more than $80,000 was designated for overflow shelter during extreme weather conditions. Additional funds were directed to organizations like First Tee Chesterfield and CARES.

Opioid abatement efforts received a boost with the acceptance of $1.6 million in grants from the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority. These funds will support various collaborative projects aimed at reducing opioid misuse.

Business license tax thresholds were updated to benefit small businesses, raising the gross receipts threshold for a flat fee to $500,000 in 2025 and $550,000 in 2026.

The board endorsed a segment of the Powhite Parkway Extension for Central Virginia Transportation Authority funding, seeking $125 million for this project phase.

A construction contract worth $5.7 million was awarded for expanding and renovating the Proctors Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant administration building. Additionally, Physicians Correctional USA CORP was selected to provide medical services at Chesterfield County Jail under a contract valued at approximately $2.8 million annually.
