Chesterfield County Public Schools announced on March 24 that its annual Arts Fest is showcasing student creativity and artistic talent across the district. The event coincides with national Youth Art Month, Music in Our Schools Month, and Theater in Our Schools Month, all of which take place in March.
Arts Fest features a variety of free displays and events open to the community. Among the highlights is the Mini Museum, described as the world’s largest kid-created museum of tiny artworks. This record-breaking display includes approximately 2,416 miniature artworks created by 2,196 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade throughout Chesterfield County Public Schools. The Mini Museum will be open through April 19 at Chesterfield Towne Center.
Student artwork from virtual schools is also featured this year. Art created by students enrolled in Chesterfield Virtual School and CCPSOnline can be viewed around the clock in online galleries hosted at oneccps.org.
Elementary school visual art displays are being held from March 23 to April 25 at branches of Chesterfield County Public Library and at the Perkinson Center for the Arts and Education. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other works by elementary students are included in these exhibitions.
A major part of Arts Fest is the Secondary Fine and Performing Arts Showcase scheduled for April 11-12 at Clover Hill High School. Visual artists from every middle school and high school will display their work while performing arts students present dance, musical, and theatrical performances during scheduled times over both days.
The annual celebration underscores Chesterfield County Public Schools’ commitment to fostering creativity among its students through diverse opportunities for artistic expression.
