Lisa Hudgins has been elected chair of the Chesterfield County School Board for 2026, with Steven Paranto chosen as vice chair. The decisions were made during the board’s meeting on January 6.
The board consists of Ann Coker (Bermuda District), Dr. Jenna Darby (Clover Hill District interim), Dominique Chatters (Dale District), Steven Paranto (Matoaca District), and Lisa Hudgins (Midlothian District).
The approved schedule for 2026 includes several budget work sessions starting at 4 p.m. on January 22, February 3, February 10, and February 18. A business meeting is set for February 10 at 6:30 p.m., which will begin with a public hearing on the fiscal year 2027 budget. The board will hold a special meeting to adopt the budget at 6:30 p.m. on February 24.
Regular work sessions are scheduled to start at 4 p.m., followed by business meetings at 6:30 p.m., on March 10, April 14, May 12, June 2, September 8, October 13, November 10, and December 8. There will also be a summer work session beginning at noon on August 11 and a business meeting that evening at 6:30 p.m.
Meetings generally take place in the Public Meeting Room located at 10001 Iron Bridge Road. Work sessions and business meetings are broadcast live on Comcast channel 98 and Verizon channel 28. They are also livestreamed online and archived on the school system’s YouTube channel.
The Chesterfield County School Board governs Chesterfield County Public Schools, which is central Virginia’s largest school system. Each member represents one of five magisterial districts in the county and serves a four-year term ending December 31, 2027.
Dr. Jenna Darby attended her first meeting as interim representative for Clover Hill District following her recent appointment. She will serve until a special election is held to fill the seat for the remainder of the term; no date has been set yet for this election.
