Significantly more than 50 Chesterfield residents gathered on Saturday, July 19, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rockwood Park. The event featured music, activities, and nature and history programming.

Chesterfield Parks and Recreation collaborated with local ice cream shop Gelati Celesti to introduce a limited-edition ice cream flavor named Rockwood Bark in honor of the park’s anniversary. This flavor is now available at Gelati Celesti stores throughout Virginia.

WRIC Meteorologist Jacqueline Waters attended the event, participating in educational and interactive nature experiences with community members.

The celebration marked a significant milestone for Rockwood Park, which has been a hub for outdoor enjoyment and environmental education since its establishment in 1975.
