Chesterfield schools seek applicants for advisory committees ahead of September deadline

Community members in Chesterfield County have until September 29 to apply for positions on School Board advisory committees. These committees provide a way for parents, teachers, staff, students, and other interested individuals to engage with Chesterfield County Public Schools.

According to the school division, “Advisory committee members are appointed from each of the county’s five magisterial districts and include parents, teachers, staff members, students and others interested in helping Chesterfield County Public Schools achieve its vision of creating a better tomorrow.” More information about committee meeting dates and application details can be found at bit.ly/BdCom.

Those appointed by the School Board must live in the district they represent. The available seats include:

– Audit and Finance Committee: Bermuda District representative (term July 1, 2025–June 30, 2027) and Clover Hill District representative (partial term ending June 30, 2027).
– School Health Advisory Board: Dale District representative (term July 1, 2025–June 30, 2028), Matoaca District representative (partial term ending June 30, 2027), and a mental health wellness expert (partial term ending June 30, 2026). The mental health expert may come from any district but should have relevant experience.
– Special Education Advisory Committee: Midlothian District representative (partial term ending June 30, 2028). Parent representatives must have a child receiving special education services within Chesterfield County Public Schools at the time of appointment.
