The City’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities (PRCF) has announced a series of events and programs for the summer season. These activities are designed to provide entertainment and engagement for families throughout the community.

The 2025 Festival of Arts is underway at Dogwood Dell, featuring several performances in June. Notable events include the Multicultural Festival, organized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and ReEstablish Richmond, on Saturday, June 14 at 1 p.m., and a performance by the KOS Band on Saturday, June 28 at 8 p.m. The complete schedule for the festival’s 68th edition is available on the Parks and Recreation website.

Juneteenth will be marked with three special events. On June 14, Pine Camp Arts and Community Center will host a free performance of “Our Man Mitchell,” highlighting John H. Mitchell Jr.’s advocacy work through The Richmond Planet. This play will be presented at Pine Camp Arts & Community Center at 2 p.m. On June 19, celebrations continue with the Jubilation in June Festival at Intermediate Terminal featuring Grammy-nominated R&B artist Carl Thomas and concluding with fireworks around 8:50 p.m. Additionally, Legacy Band will perform at Dogwood Dell on Friday, June 20 starting at 8 p.m.

Jazz enthusiasts can look forward to Jazz at Fountain Lake in Byrd Park returning this year as part of PRCF’s Open Streets initiative. The first event features The Francoise Experience on Sunday, June 29 beginning at 4 p.m.

Further details about these events can be found by following PRCF on social media or visiting their website.
