Henrico County Government has announced a series of initiatives and events, including the upcoming celebration of Active Aging Week and plans for a pioneering educational facility in Varina, according to recent posts on its official Twitter account.

On September 24, 2025, Henrico County Government posted, “Henrico will celebrate Active Aging Week from Oct. 6-12 by offering workshops & events to promote connection, volunteerism & healthy living among adults ages 50 and older. All activities are free & open to the public. Details: https://t.co/ZFz6aTojgg https://t.co/VwwZ38iHWK”. The county is inviting residents aged 50 and above to participate in these community-oriented programs at no cost.

In another post dated September 25, 2025, the county highlighted an upcoming construction project: “Scheduled to open in the fall of 2026, it will be the first K-12 Living Building Challenge structure in the country.” This statement refers to a new educational building that aims to meet rigorous sustainability standards under the Living Building Challenge framework.

The same day, Henrico County also shared updates about progress at Wilton Farm: “Get ready for another landmark location in Varina! The Environmental Education Living Building at Wilton Farm is getting ready to start construction soon. https://t.co/EjaHzntW5r”.

Henrico County Public Schools District serves as the sole school district within Henrico County and reported an enrollment of over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source). Deep Run High School had the highest enrollment among all schools in the district with more than 2,000 students (source). Black students represented the largest ethnic group within Henrico County schools during this period, accounting for approximately 36% of total enrollment (source). The overall student population increased slightly from the previous year (source), reflecting continued growth in one of Virginia’s most populous school districts.

These announcements underscore ongoing efforts by Henrico County Government to promote wellness among older adults and advance sustainable education infrastructure for future generations.
