Henrico County Government announced on August 26, 2025, that the Board of Supervisors has approved significant contracts and funding changes related to water and sewer infrastructure projects.
In a post made at 11:17 p.m. UTC, Henrico County Government stated, “Following the Board’s vote, the county has awarded a $6.9M annual contract for installation of new water & sewer service lines on private property. The county has the option to renew the contract for two additional one-year terms.”
Shortly after, at 11:22 p.m. UTC, the county reported another development: “The Board has approved a resolution for a change order of $855K to a prior contract for construction of sanitary sewer main from Kain Road to Bacova Drive. The additional funds are needed due to unforeseen conditions requiring additional rock excavation.” In a subsequent post at 11:22 p.m., it was clarified that “The county awarded the initial contract in June 2024 for $2.64M.”
Henrico County is home to Henrico County Public Schools District, which enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 school year (source). Deep Run High School recorded the highest enrollment among its schools with more than 2,000 students (source). During this period, Black students represented the largest ethnic group in Henrico County schools, making up more than one-third of total enrollment (source). The district saw a slight increase in total student numbers compared to the previous year (source), and Holladay Elementary School led pre-kindergarten enrollment figures (source).
These infrastructure projects come as Henrico County continues to serve a growing and diverse population through its public services and educational institutions.
