Henrico County Government announced on September 29, 2025, that Henrico 4-H will host “Frights, Flights & 4-H Delights” on Thursday, October 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Belmont Recreation Center.

In a tweet posted at 7:00 p.m., Henrico County Government stated, “Henrico 4-H will host Frights, Flights & 4-H Delights on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Belmont Recreation Center, 1600 Hilliard Road. This is an open-house for youth ages 5 through 19 who may be interested in the program.” The event aims to introduce young people to the opportunities available through Henrico’s local chapter of the national youth development organization.

A follow-up post published at 7:03 p.m. explained that “Current 4-H club members and leaders will be available at the event to talk with prospective members about the opportunities available within Henrico’s program.” Another message added details about the programming offered by Henrico’s chapter: “It features programming on topics in areas such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), healthy living and agriculture.”

Henrico County is served by a single public school district which enrolled over fifty thousand students during the most recent school year. According to Virginia Department of Education data, enrollment reached approximately 50,464 students for the 2023-24 academic year—a slight increase from previous years. The county’s schools are diverse, with Black students making up about one-third of enrollment and white students accounting for nearly another third. Deep Run High School reported the highest student population among secondary schools, while Holladay Elementary had the largest pre-kindergarten enrollment.

The upcoming open house provides an opportunity for families across this diverse school system to learn more about youth engagement programs focusing on science education, wellness initiatives and agricultural experiences.
