Henrico County Government has announced several community initiatives and events in early October 2025, including the inaugural Varina Fair and an environmental grant opportunity.
On October 2, 2025, Henrico County Government promoted a new event on its official X account: “Check out a new, free community event this Saturday! The inaugural Varina Fair is set for 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 4 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. * Car, truck & bike show * Line dance show * Boy Scouts demonstrations * Music by DJ Smooth * Vendors, food trucks & door prizes https://t.co/6h4E0kyN3u”. The fair will be held at Dorey Park and will feature a variety of activities including vehicle shows, live music, demonstrations by local Boy Scouts, as well as food vendors and prize giveaways.

On October 3, 2025, the county also highlighted an environmental initiative: “Got an idea that would improve the environment? Henrico’s Environmental Action Resource Team (HEART) invites nonprofit organizations to apply for the second round of funding through its Community Impact Grants Program. Henrico County is home to one public school district with more than 50,000 students enrolled during the 2023-24 academic year (source). The district saw a slight increase in enrollment compared to the previous year (source). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among all schools in the county (source). Black students represented the largest ethnic group within Henrico County schools during this period (source), while Holladay Elementary had the most pre-kindergarten students enrolled (source).
