Henrico County Government recently shared updates on two significant developments within the community through a series of tweets. The announcements cover the restoration of water services and the establishment of a new recovery center for individuals facing addiction.

On June 3, 2025, Henrico County announced that it is restoring its connection to Richmond’s water distribution system after receiving confirmation that service could resume. DPU Director Bentley Chan expressed relief, stating, “We are thrilled to get our customers back online.”

Later that day, Henrico County revealed plans for a new facility aimed at addressing addiction issues in the community. By summer 2026, Henrico will be home to a 60-bed recovery center for individuals struggling with addiction. The Henrico County Detox & Residential Treatment Center will be constructed and managed through a collaboration between Henrico County and Pyramid Healthcare.

In conjunction with this announcement, Varina Supervisor Tyrone Nelson highlighted the importance of this initiative. He remarked that “The Henrico Pyramid recovery center will be nothing short of lifesaving for those in our community who are struggling to break the brutal grip of addiction.”

Henrico County Public Schools District is noteworthy for enrolling 50,464 students during the 2023-24 school year. The district’s diverse enrollment included Black students as the largest ethnic group, comprising 35.7% of the student body.
