Henrico County Government announces zoning appeal meeting and community planning event

The Henrico County Government recently announced several updates and upcoming events for county residents, including meetings related to zoning appeals and the comprehensive plan, as well as recognition of local supervisors’ leadership roles.

On February 23, 2026, Henrico County Government posted that “The Henrico County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Henrico County Government Center, 4301 E. The following day, on February 24, 2026, another update encouraged public participation in shaping future development: “Help shape Henrico’s future! Plan to attend a meeting Monday, March 9 on the county’s process to update its comprehensive plan. Planners will share an overview of the plan & key components. Residents will be able to ask questions & provide feedback.

Later that same day, Henrico County Government congratulated two local officials for their roles in statewide leadership: “Congratulations to Supervisors Dan Schmitt & Tyrone Nelson! They will help lead steering committees of the Virginia Association of Counties in 2026.

Henrico County is served by a single public school district which enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year according to state education data (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among all schools in the county for that period (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Demographically, Black students comprised the largest ethnic group within Henrico’s schools at nearly 36%, followed by white students at about 32% (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). The district’s total enrollment grew slightly from the previous year (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home), with Holladay Elementary leading in pre-kindergarten enrollment and Tuckahoe Elementary having the most kindergarten students (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home).
