Henrico County Government announced on August 13, 2025, that the Board of Supervisors approved several measures impacting local infrastructure and education projects.
In a post published at 01:29 UTC, the county stated, “The Board approved a lease agreement with the Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District for use of a vacant, county-owned house at 3978 New Market Road. The property will be used as offices.”
A subsequent update at 01:30 UTC detailed funding allocations for various community projects. According to the statement, “Funded projects include Quioccasin Middle, the Environmental Center Living Building, Jackson Davis Elementary, Longan Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Animal Adoption Center, Tuckahoe Creek Park Phase III & countywide drainage improvements.”
Additionally, the same post timestamp reported that “The Board authorized the issuance & sale of $90 million in general-obligation bonds for various projects for schools, recreation & parks, fire stations & public safety facilities, & flood prevention & stormwater drainage.”
Henrico County Public Schools District is the only school district in Henrico County and enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year. This included Deep Run High School having the highest enrollment among its 68 schools with more than 2,000 students. Black students represented about 36% of total enrollment during this period—the largest ethnic group—followed by white students at nearly 32%. The overall student population grew slightly from the previous year.
These recent board decisions come amid ongoing efforts to support growing educational needs and improve community infrastructure across Henrico County.
