Henrico County Government announced on September 29, 2025, that a test related to the relocation of a critical water main will be conducted as part of a capital improvement project by the City of Richmond. The project is set to affect water distribution systems in both Henrico and Hanover counties.

In its statement, Henrico County Government explained, “This test is a standard part of a planned capital improvement project by the City of Richmond that will involve relocating the critical water main in the fall. The main connects to water distribution systems in both Henrico and Hanover counties.” The county further noted that no interruptions in water service are anticipated but warned residents about possible changes in water pressure: “No interruptions in water service are expected, but some residents in the North Side, Scott’s Addition, Chamberlayne, Richmond Raceway, Highland Park and Mechanicsville areas may notice lower-than-normal water pressure as utility teams monitor the system and make adjustments.” According to another update from the same day, “The tests will run from approximately 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.”

Henrico County is home to one public school district serving over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 school year (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among all schools in Henrico County for that period (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Black students made up more than one-third of total enrollment during this time frame (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home), while Holladay Elementary School had the largest number of pre-kindergarten students (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home).

The scheduled testing is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements designed to support growing communities within Henrico and neighboring localities.
