Henrico County Government has announced updates regarding Firehouse 6, a major emergency response station in the county. The recent posts provide details about the facility’s operations and upcoming changes.
On January 6, 2026, Henrico County Government stated, “This station is one of the busiest in the county. Its crews responded to nearly 11,000 emergency calls in 2024.” In a subsequent post on the same day, they shared information about new developments for Firehouse 6: “The facility will replace the original Firehouse 6, which opened 57 years ago along Laburnum Avenue. The new building’s design focuses on safety, efficiency and firefighter well-being, and is expected to begin full operations in the fall.”
Another update noted recent expansion efforts in Varina: “Firehouse 6 will be the second new fire station for Varina in the past year, following the opening of Bungalow City Firehouse 23 in February.”
Henrico County serves a diverse community with a public school district that enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source).
