Henrico County Government recently shared updates on the proceedings of a Board meeting held on June 11, 2025. The meeting marked significant decisions regarding local emergency declarations and infrastructure development within the county.

On June 11, 2025, Henrico County Government announced that “Tonight’s Board meeting is the first since the county manager’s declaration of local emergency, which enabled the county to access resources & expedite purchasing processes.” This declaration was pivotal in facilitating swift responses to emerging needs by allowing access to necessary resources and streamlining procurement procedures.

In a subsequent post on the same day, it was revealed that “In a companion measure, the Board has approved a second resolution that ends the May 30 declaration of local emergency.” This decision effectively concluded the state of emergency declared at the end of May, signaling a return to standard operations.

Additionally, during this session, “The Board has approved a resolution that authorizes the use of construction management contracting for the development of a new building for the county’s Department of Social Services, in accordance with state law and measures previously adopted by the Board.” This move aligns with existing legal frameworks and previous board decisions aimed at enhancing social service infrastructure.

Henrico County Public Schools District remains an integral part of community life. During the 2023-24 school year, it enrolled over 50,000 students across various educational levels. The district’s demographic composition reflects diversity with Black students representing over one-third of total enrollment. Notably, Deep Run High School had significant student numbers among high schools in Henrico County.
