Henrico County Government has recently shared updates on its initiatives and community recognitions through a series of tweets. These posts highlight developments in infrastructure, acknowledgment of the contributions of older residents, and services available to support them.

On May 13, 2025, Henrico County Government announced that “Henrico’s network of bike lanes has grown from 9 to 33 miles since 2021 and a proposed bike plan is included in the county’s 2045 comprehensive plan.” This expansion reflects ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure within the county.

In another post on the same day, Henrico County recognized May as Older Americans Month. The Board noted that “more than 60,000 Henrico residents are 60 and older and have enriched the community for decades with their hard work & shared, diverse experience.” This recognition underscores the value placed on senior citizens’ contributions to the community.

Additionally, Henrico County emphasized its commitment to supporting older residents by providing essential services. The Board highlighted that “Henrico understands the importance of being a community that offers services to help its older residents thrive & live independently for as long as possible.” The Advocate for the Aging’s Office plays a crucial role in this effort by offering resources and connections.

The educational landscape in Henrico County also presents significant statistics. During the 2023-24 school year, Henrico County Public Schools District enrolled over 50,000 students across various grade levels. Deep Run High School had notably high enrollment figures among high schools. Black students represented the largest ethnic group within these schools during this period.
