Henrico County Government announced on its official Twitter account several updates this week, including the start of a community planning event and news about its financial standing.

On August 25, Henrico County Government posted: “The Lakeside Area Design Charrette begins tonight, with a session from 6-7:30 p.m. at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Ave. Come share your ideas for the future of Lakeside! https://t.co/GnO3KEf9gg” The event invited residents to participate in discussions about the future development of the Lakeside area.

The following day, August 26, the county highlighted its financial reputation by stating: “Henrico has long been recognized as ‘triple AAA,’ earning top bond ratings from the 3 main agencies. Ahead of a bond sale, the county requested ratings from the agencies plus a new one. Officials will announce the findings at 12:15 p.m. via livestream https://t.co/mF795et6Tb https://t.co/ydocJ54aZb”

Later that same day, Henrico County shared further details about its bond rating achievement: “Henrico is the nation’s 3rd county to earn the highest possible bond ratings – AAA – from four independent agencies. Today, County Manager John Vithoulkas dubbed RVA the ‘Quadzilla region,’ as Henrico & @ChesterfieldVa have now earned ‘quad-AAA’ status.

Henrico County serves a diverse and growing population through its public school system. During the 2023-24 academic year, Henrico County Public Schools enrolled over 50,000 students—a slight increase compared to previous years—and Black students represented the largest ethnic group in enrollment at nearly 36% (source). Deep Run High School reported having the highest student enrollment among all schools in Henrico during that period (source). Additionally, Holladay Elementary School enrolled more pre-kindergarten students than any other elementary school in Henrico (source).

Henrico’s recent recognition by four independent credit rating agencies places it among only three counties nationwide to achieve this distinction.
