Henrico County Government reported on September 23, 2025, that its Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has achieved AAA ratings from three major bond rating agencies, a distinction held by only 14 public utilities nationwide.
In a post published at 22:20 UTC, the county stated, “Henrico’s Department of Public Utilities holds AAA ratings from 3 major bond rating agencies, ensuring the lowest available interest rate & significant savings for taxpayers. Henrico DPU is one of 14 public utilities nationwide to receive the triple-AAA rating.”
Later that evening, Henrico County Government shared additional updates regarding local governance decisions. At 22:20 UTC, it posted, “Following a public hearing, the Board approved an ordinance vacating a building line at 6711 W. Franklin St. The owner requested the action to make improvements to the property.”
At 22:21 UTC on September 23, another update read: “Following a public hearing, the Board approved a resolution for an easement agreement with Dominion Energy for underground electric line facilities in a portion of RF&P Park. The easement will not interfere with the county’s use of the park.”
Henrico County is also home to one of Virginia’s largest school districts. During the 2023-24 academic year, Henrico County Public Schools enrolled over 50,000 students and experienced slight growth compared to previous years (source). Deep Run High School recorded the highest enrollment among all schools in the district during this period (source). Black students represented the largest ethnic group within Henrico schools during this time frame (source), while Holladay Elementary led pre-kindergarten enrollment (source).
