Henrico County Government announced on April 10, 2026, that residents can celebrate Earth Day by picking up a free native tree or shrub at local libraries and Deep Run Park.
In a tweet posted on April 10, the county stated: “Celebrate Earth Day by bringing home a free native tree or shrub! Interested gardeners can pick up a free tree or shrub between noon and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at any @HenricoLibrary location or Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway.”
A subsequent message highlighted community involvement in environmental efforts: “@HenricoLibrary Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District encourages community members to support pollinators and the local environment by adding native plant species to their homes. The organization has provided 2,200 seedlings to give away at Earth Day celebrations across the county!” This initiative aims to promote biodiversity and ecological health within Henrico County.
