Henrico County Government has provided updates on local infrastructure projects and development initiatives through its official social media channels, including statements from county officials and details on upcoming improvements affecting area schools.

On July 29, 2025, Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas released a statement regarding the county’s process for soliciting proposals for an arena-anchored development. The statement was shared on the county’s Twitter account: “Statement from Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas on responses to ‘request for interest’ for arena-anchored development. https://t.co/GPWGzO9Wpv https://t.co/wBcTFgiJ7X”.

Later that day, the county announced upgrades to a trail along Forest Avenue in preparation for the upcoming school year. According to a tweet posted at 22:15 UTC: “A quarter-mile trail along Forest Avenue between Lindsay and Rock Creek roads is being upgraded ahead of the 2025-26 school year. https://t.co/3juKw9JU6K”.

The following morning, further details were provided about the project’s specifications and timeline: “The trail will be between 5 and 6 feet wide and ADA accessible. Construction is set to be completed by mid-August, so children who attend nearby Tuckahoe Elementary School will be able to walk with their families beginning with the fall semester.”

Henrico County Public Schools District serves as the only school district in Henrico County, enrolling over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source). During that period, Deep Run High School had the highest enrollment among the county’s 68 schools with more than 2,000 students (source). Black students made up approximately one-third of total enrollment, representing the largest ethnic group within county schools (source). Overall student numbers have seen slight growth year over year (source).

These updates reflect ongoing efforts by Henrico County Government to enhance community infrastructure and support local education facilities as enrollment continues to grow.
