Henrico County Government recognized three robotics teams from Henrico County Public Schools for their achievements during the past year, according to a series of posts on August 12, 2025.

In a tweet posted at 22:42 UTC, officials stated, “The Board approved a resolution recognizing three robotics teams from @HenricoSchools for their exceptional performances this year. For the moment, officials brought out a robot created by Public Works Director Terrell Hughes but acknowledged it pales to the students’ work.”

Additional tweets highlighted specific team accomplishments. At 22:42 UTC, Henrico County Government wrote, “Among its season highlights, the Mav Mechanics competed at the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship, earning the Rookie All-Star Award & qualifying for the FIRST World Championship.” In another post at 22:43 UTC, they noted, “Among its accomplishments, Team Talon 540 competed at the FIRST World Championship in Houston in the Hooper Division.”

Henrico County Public Schools is the only school district serving Henrico County and enrolled approximately 50,464 students during the 2023-24 school year (Virginia Department of Education). The district saw a slight increase in enrollment compared to previous years (Virginia Department of Education). Deep Run High School had the largest student body among all county schools that year with over 2,000 students (Virginia Department of Education). The student population is diverse; Black students made up about one-third of total enrollment and were followed closely by white students (Virginia Department of Education).

These recognitions underscore continued interest and achievement in STEM fields among Henrico’s student population.
