Henrico County Government announced several updates this week through its official Twitter account, including actions by the Board of Supervisors and changes to county services for the upcoming Labor Day holiday.
On August 26, Henrico County Government reported that “The Board has approved a resolution accepting 0.36 miles of Farside Trail into the county road system for maintenance.” The same day, it noted the conclusion of a public meeting: “The Aug. 26 meeting of the Board of Supervisors has concluded. Archived video of the meeting will be available at https://t.co/fJzlnqicRX”.
Two days later, on August 28, residents were informed about adjustments to county operations due to the Labor Day holiday: “Henrico County offices and courts will be closed Monday, Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday. County refuse collection will not occur. Service will resume Tuesday on a one-day delay through the week. The county’s public use areas will be open. https://t.co/5CBAEvRw59 https://t.co/3BTQbYT6bt”
Henrico County is served by a single public school district that enrolled over 50,000 students in the 2023-24 academic year, according to data from the Virginia Department of Education (source). During this period, Deep Run High School had the highest enrollment among all schools in Henrico County with more than 2,000 students (source). Black students made up approximately 35.7% of total enrollment—over 17,900 students—while white students accounted for nearly one-third (source). Total student numbers saw a slight increase from the previous year (source). Among pre-kindergarten programs in Henrico County schools, Holladay Elementary School had the largest group with more than 200 enrolled children (source).
