Marshall Plaza closes temporarily due to HVAC issues; DSS services move to Southside center

Marshall Plaza in Richmond is closed today, December 9, 2025, due to unexpected issues with its HVAC system. The City of Richmond announced the closure and stated that Department of Social Services (DSS) services will continue at the Southside Community Services Center.

According to the city, all DSS resources and assistance are available at the Southside Community Services Center, located at 4100 Hull Street Road, Richmond, VA 23224. DSS staff from Marshall Plaza are also preparing for a move to a new location by the end of the month.

The city said updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Residents needing assistance or information can contact Richmond DSS at (804) 646-7000 or visit go.rva.gov/winter-weather.

“During this closure, Department of Social Services (DSS) services will remain available and will expand as needed at the Southside Community Services Center to ensure residents continue to receive uninterrupted support,” according to the city’s announcement.
