The City of Richmond hosted a virtual public meeting on August 19 to discuss upcoming utility work in the Forest Hill Avenue area. The session aimed to inform residents and business owners about planned projects to replace aging water lines and deteriorated sewer laterals.

According to city officials, the water line replacement will take place along Hathaway Road, from Riverside Drive/Longview Drive to the 2900 block of Hathaway Road. This project is scheduled to begin on August 25 and is expected to last six months.

A separate sewer lateral replacement will occur in the 6900-7000 blocks of Forest Hill Avenue westbound lanes. Work on this segment is set to start on September 2, with an estimated duration of two months.

During the meeting, DPU project managers presented details about the scope of each project, reviewed traffic impacts, and answered questions from attendees. Residents were able to review project plans and access additional materials such as the Public Meeting presentation and recording.

The utility upgrades are part of ongoing efforts by Richmond’s Department of Public Utilities (DPU) to improve system reliability by replacing failing infrastructure throughout the city.
