The City of Richmond will host its E-Cycle Day on Saturday, September 13, 2025, offering residents a way to safely dispose of paper documents, electronics, and certain household hazardous waste. The event is organized by the Department of Public Works, the Clean City Commission, and the Department of Public Utilities.
The drive-thru event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1710 Robin Hood Road, located at the northeast corner of Robin Hood Road and Arthur Ashe Boulevard. Only Richmond residents are eligible to participate; proof of residency is required and no business or commercial items will be accepted.
Volunteers will assist by removing items directly from vehicles. Residents can bring up to five boxes of paper documents for shredding but should remove all binders, staples, and clips beforehand.
Accepted electronics include computer systems with accessories such as cables and keyboards, VCRs, camcorders, stereos, phones, televisions, monitors, printers, and most other items with a plug. There may be fees for recycling certain electronic items; a full list of acceptable electronics and any associated costs can be found on the city’s Clean City Commission website: https://www.rva.gov/public-works/clean-city-commission.
Household hazardous waste collected at the event includes oil-based paint as well as pesticides like bug spray and herbicides such as Roundup or Weed B Gon. Latex and water-based paints will not be accepted; instead, residents are advised to let these dry out in their cans before placing them in regular curbside trash collection.
Further details about recycling guidelines or the event itself are available on the city’s website (https://www.rva.gov/public-works/clean-city-commission) or by contacting AskPublicWorks@rva.gov.
