The Richmond Department of Public Works (DPW) is participating in National Public Works Week (NPWW) from May 19 to 23, 2025. The theme for this year, “People, Purpose, Presence,” highlights the contributions of public works professionals in maintaining infrastructure and essential services.

Richmond’s DPW is one of only 195 accredited public works agencies in the United States. This accreditation reflects the city’s dedication to excellence and innovation in public service.

Throughout NPWW, various events will showcase the role of DPW teams in enhancing Richmond’s infrastructure. Activities include a literature display at City Hall from May 19 to May 23 and a Touch-A-Truck event on May 21 where elementary students can interact with DPW vehicles.

On May 22, an employee awards ceremony will recognize outstanding service among DPW staff. The same day, a Speed Management Symposium will take place at Main Street Station, featuring presentations on roadway safety projects and opportunities for community engagement.

The week concludes with live music at Main Street Station on May 22 from 6 to 8 p.m., offering an evening of entertainment open to the public.
