Mayor Avula has announced the next steps in Richmond’s efforts to strengthen its water infrastructure and security. On August 18, Chief Administrative Officer Odie Donald and Director of Public Utilities Scott Morris will convene a regional work group with utility directors and administrators from Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, and Hanover Counties. The group will review and assess capital investment plans.

A week later, on August 25, the same regional work group will participate in a day-long tabletop exercise. This session will focus on cybersecurity, emergency action plans, system modeling, system monitoring, and information sharing through dashboards.

The meetings are not open to the public. However, city officials have stated that they will provide a summary of outcomes and outline next steps following these sessions.
