The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities is organizing a virtual community meeting to discuss the upcoming Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) project at Canoe Run Park in the 5th District. This initiative is part of the CSO Final Plan mandated by the state, which aims to decrease overflows into the James River by approximately 83 million gallons each year.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide residents, commuters, and visitors with information about construction plans and expected community impacts. City staff will also explain the CSO Law (Senate Bill 1064), enacted by the Virginia General Assembly in 2020, which mandates improvements to regional combined sewer systems. The project is designed to enhance water quality, reduce flood risk, and safeguard public health and the environment across Virginia.

The virtual meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 9 at 7:00 pm. Participants can join via computer or mobile device using a provided link or dial in by phone.
