The Richmond Police Department has released a final review of its investigation into the fatal shootings that took place in Monroe Park after the Huguenot High School graduation in 2023.

Chief Rick Edwards introduced the review, which is presented as a video lasting just over seven minutes. The video includes crime scene photographs, collected evidence, information about the locations of people involved, details on circumstances and motive, and a segment from footage shown during court proceedings.

During the course of the legal process, public communication was limited due to ongoing adjudication. Now that the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney has indicated there will be no further criminal prosecutions related to this case, Chief Edwards stated he is able to provide more information to the community.

“We hope this comprehensive account of this extremely complex case provides the public with the details they need to understand this tragedy,” said RPD Chief Edwards. “I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the actions of the RPD officers, VCU Police officers and VCU security staff who were present at the scene and the RPD detectives, forensic professionals and members of the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney who successfully investigated and prosecuted this difficult case.”

The review video is available for viewing on YouTube or can be downloaded via Dropbox.
