The City of Richmond has initiated a beautification project funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to enhance gateways across the city. Seven out of eight planned locations have been completed, with the final site on Broad Street between 4th and 7th streets currently underway. This last phase will include distinctive lighting and landscaping, with completion anticipated by late fall 2025.
Travelers in the area should expect intermittent lane closures and minor delays due to construction activities.
For updates on this and other city projects, residents can follow the Department of Public Works (DPW) on social media at X @DPW_RichmondVA.
The DPW is one of only 195 accredited public works agencies in the United States. Its services include leaf collection, street maintenance, trash collection, recycling, graffiti removal, parking enforcement, urban forestry, traffic signal management, and civil engineering. Additionally, DPW oversees city building maintenance, issues permits for work within city rights-of-way, manages the RVA Bike Share program, and maintains the city’s vehicle fleet. The department’s operating budget is sourced from Richmond’s general fund.
