The City of Lynchburg: City Residents Informed of Slower Mail Service

1140 post office coronavirus

The City of Lynchburg issued the following announcement on September 28.

The City of Lynchburg is informing residents that effective Friday, October 1, changes to the U.S. Post Office’s first-class mail delivery may affect the length of time it takes for payments to reach City Hall. The delivery of first-class mail may now take as much as five days from the date the post office receives it. Please take this into consideration when mailing payments to City Hall, especially if there is a deadline or a penalty fee if the payment is not received on time.

Residents can pay their bills anytime online, in person at the Billings & Collections windows in City Hall, 900 Church Street, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or use the convenient drop box located in front of City Hall (checks or money orders only – do not place cash in the drop box).

For more information, contact the Billing & Collections Division at (434) 455-3850.
