Randolph-MacOn College Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 13
A trio of Randolph-Macon women's volleyball players picked up more postseason honors as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2021 College Division All-State Teams. Grace Parker (Jr., Andover, N.J. / Pope John XXIII) and Sydney Koch (Sr., Raleigh, N.C. / Sanderson) earned spots on the first team, while Danielle LaRosa (Sr., Charlottesville, Va. / Albemarle) was a second team selection and named Defensive Player of the Year.
LaRosa, a middle blocker from Charlottesville, Va., was an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention selection and was named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Second Team in 2021. She finished the season with 111 total blocks, which ranked 12th in the nation and led the ODAC. She also finished with a .362 hitting percentage, which was ranked No. 28 in the country.
Koch (Sr., Raleigh, N.C. / Sanderson) ups her placement after she was All-State Second Team two years ago. In the fall she was named an All-American Honorable Mention, also duplicating the feat she earned as a sophomore. In the fall of 2021 she was an All-ODAC First Team pick for a third consecutive year. She was always a threat up front as she hit .364 for the season, No. 27 in the nation and tops in the ODAC. She was also a force defensively with 74 blocks. She ended her career No. 6 in the nation with a .360 hitting percentage and No. 9 nationally with 306 blocks among active players.
Parker was also named AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and All-ODAC First Team in the fall. She was second in the ODAC with 348 kills and fourth in kills per set with 3.45. Her 388.5 points were also second in the ODAC. Five times this season she registered 20 or more kills with a career-best 27 coming against nationally ranked Emory near the end of the season.
