Virginia Union University Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 20
Virginia Union University's Raemaad Wright scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but Bowie State University ended a Panther four-game winning streak by defeating VUU 65-61 on Wednesday, January 19, in Bowie, Md.
VUU's Jordan Peebles scored 13 points while teammate Keleaf Tate scored 12 points in the game.
Virginia Union's Darius Hines added 11 points for the Panthers.
"I thought we struggled offensively and defensively tonight," VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler said. "When you're on the road you must defend, rebound, make free throws, and we didn't do any of those things at a high level to win tonight. Bowie played a good game."
The loss dropped VUU to 12-4 overall and 5-1 in the CIAA. Bowie State is now 5-11 overall and 3-2 in CIAA play.
