R-MC Field Hockey Squared Away for 2022 Season

The Randolph-Macon Field Hockey team has released its schedule for the 2022 fall season. Head Coach Jess Weiss' seventh season at the helm consists of 18 games, including 8 home games a season after going 6-4 at Nunnally Field last season.

After a home exhibition with Mary Washington on Aug. 24, the Yellow Jackets will open the regular season with a home contest Sept. 1 with a perennial power Salisbury team who won the Coast 2 Coast Conference Championship a season ago. They will then hit the road for three of their next four games beginning with a road game against McDaniel on Sept. 3. They come home for a matchup with Catholic on Sept. 7 before hitting the road again. The next two road games come against Southern Virginia on Sept. 10, and St. Mary's (MD), who they have split the last four meetings with, on Sept. 14.

On Sept. 17, R-MC returns to Nunnally field to host Goucher at 3:00, but then hit the road again for a matchup with 2021 national runner-up Johns Hopkins on Sept. 21. They conclude their road stretch with away games against Meredith on Sept. 24, and Mary Washington on Sept. 27. The month of September will close with the opening ODAC contest on Sept. 30 against Lynchburg, who lost in the ODAC championship game last season.

Four of the next five games for R-MC come on the road, beginning with a contest at Bridgewater on Oct. 5, followed by a road game against Ferrum just three days later on Oct. 8. They then come home for a home ODAC contest against Virginia Wesleyan on Oct. 12 at Nunnally Field. Quickly hitting the road again, two more road contests await, the first coming on Oct. 15 against Roanoke, who have knocked the Yellow Jackets out of the ODAC tournament each of the last five seasons. The second road game is a matchup with Eastern Mennonite on Oct. 19 in Harrisonburg.

The regular season concludes with three home games, two of which are conference matchups. The first comes against defending ODAC champion Washington & Lee on Oct. 22. Sweet Briar comes to Ashland on Oct. 26. The Yellow Jackets have won all five meetings since 2014 between the two clubs. R-MC wraps up the regular season with an ODAC contest against Shenandoah for Senior Day on Oct. 29.
