Men's Cross-Country Place 2nd at Panther Invite
Virginia Union University's men's cross-country team placed second in the 2022 Panther Invite, held Friday, October 14, at Bryan Park in Richmond, Va.
VUU finished second to Virginia State University with the Panthers having 46 team points, compared to VSU's 41 points.
VUU, VSU, Elizabeth City State University, Mary Baldwin College and Chowan University competed in the 8,000-meter race.
VUU's top finisher was Micah Kapruto, who finished second overall with a time of 25:52.7. He was followed by teammate Derrick Chesire, who placed third with a time of 27:27.0.
VUU's Christopher Laws rounded out the Panthers' finishers in the top 10 with a sixth-place finish with a time of 29:16.8.
"It was a nice meet coming off homecoming," said VUU Head Cross-Country Coach Franck Charles. "Now we are going to start getting ready for CIAA CHAMPIONSHIP on October 27 at Salem, Va."
