Senior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds, with a key block and three-pointer in the final 66 seconds, as the second-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 64-59 victory over No. 5 Christopher Newport on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened:
- Junior Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) had a jumper in the lane to start the scoring, and a fast break layup by senior Josh Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) gave the Yellow Jackets an early 4-0 edge. A three-pointer by freshman Jabril Robinson (Derwood, Md./South Kent Prep) made it 7-2 with 13:25 left in the first half. A jumper by Mallory pushed the lead to six at 14-8 before an 11-2 run by the Captains gave them a 19-16 advantage with 4:27 remaining. Mallory had the next two buckets to put R-MC up 20-19 with 2:44 left before CNU closed the half on a 6-2 spurt to lead 25-22 at the break. Mallory paced the home team with six points.
- The Captains had the first two baskets of the second half to go up 29-22. CNU led 39-33 before a driving layup by Talbert following a turnover capped a 17-7 run as the Yellow Jackets took a 50-46 lead with 5:45 remaining. The Captains cut it to two before a layup by Mallory and two free throws by Mbangue gave R-MC a six-point lead at 54-48 with 3:44 left. The Captains used a 6-2 spurt to pull within two at 56-54 before two free throws by Mallory put the Yellow Jackets on top 58-54 with 1:32 remaining. Mallory pinned a layup attempt on the backboard with 1:06 left and buried a long three-pointer with 42 seconds remaining as R-MC led 61-54. The Yellow Jackets used three free throws to push the lead to eight at 64-56 before a late three-pointer by the Captains made the final 64-59.
- R-MC had three players score in double figures. Along with 19 by Mallory, Mbangue matched his career-high with 15 and Talbert tallied 12.
- Mallory has 1,245 career points, placing him 27th on R-MC's career scoring list.
- Talbert has 1,036 career points, standing in 40th on R-MC's career scoring list.
