Defense is Key in Lady Panthers' Win Over Bowie State
Virginia Union University's women's basketball team held a strong Bowie State University squad to just 34.5% shooting while hitting on 47.4% of their own shots as VUU defeated the Bulldogs 69-51 on Saturday, February 11, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Ny Langley led the Lady Panthers with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists as teammate Chris Alston added 12 points in the win.
"We came out with a purpose today." said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tierra Terry. "Bowie State is a great team who has been dominant in the Northern Division, and we truly respect them. We played great team basketball with 19 assists and we had even scoring among several players. Ny Langley stepped up big with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Chris Alston had 12 points and 7 rebounds as well. The great defensive effort by our ladies tonight is what got us this win."
Virginia Union will now travel to Raleigh, N.C., to face Shaw University at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15.
