VSU is one of the only universities in the country to produce two 4-Star Generals
Virginia State University Alumnus Charles Hamilton was promoted to 4-Star General. He is the second VSU alumnus to achieve this prestigious rank which is the highest in the U.S. Army. Virginia State University is believed to be one of the only universities in the country to produce two 4-star Generals. In addition to the promotion, General Hamilton also assumed command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC). “We are exceedingly proud of General Hamilton,” said Dr. Donald E. Palm, VSU Provost, and Executive Vice President. “General Hamilton represents the best of our VSU Trojan Warrior Battalion and the best that this country has to offer. As a University and a country, we are proud and grateful for his service.” General Hamilton graduated from Virginia State University in 1990 with a degree in Business Administration. The native of Houston, TX was already in the Army when he arrived at VSU from Fort Lee, VA. After earning his degree at VSU, Gen Hamilton embarked upon an officer’s career that has taken him to posts throughout the United States, Korea, and Afghanistan.
