Which Hanover County school saw the biggest in 2023-24 school year?

Atlee High School had the highest enrollment among Hanover County schools, welcoming 1,509 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 53.5% of them were male, and 46.5% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 78.9% of Atlee High School's total enrollment.

Among the 23 schools in Hanover County, Hanover High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,358 students, while Mechanicsville High School welcomed 1,334 students to be ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Atlee High School is part of Hanover County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Hanover County, with its main office in Mechanicsville.

In the previous school year, Atlee High School also had the highest number of students among Hanover County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
