Online Course: Reformed theology (For Christian Educator Certification) on October 4

Union Presbyterian Seminary recently issued the following announcement.

ONLINE COURSE: REFORMED THEOLOGY (FOR CHRISTIAN EDUCATOR CERTIFICATION)

OCTOBER 4

Online Course Title: Reformed Theology, a Christian Educator certification course

Note: This online course meets the requirements for the Christian Educator certification in the PC(USA), but is open to all. A participant does not need to be seeking certification as a Christian Educator to enroll in this course.

Led by:  Dr. Dawn DeVries, John Newton Thomas Professor of Systematic Theology, Union Presbyterian Seminary

Course Dates:  This course will meet online October 4 – November 12, 2021.

Course Format: This course will meet entirely online, both asynchronously and synchronously.

Each week, asynchronous online course work will be assigned. Those assignments and course documents will be posted on Blackboard. Each registered participant will receive login credentials to Blackboard, the seminary’s learning management system.

Additionally, live class meetings will be held once a week, on Tuesdays, October 5 through November 9, 2021, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EDT, via Zoom technology. Participation in the weekly class meetings is required. Each registered participant will receive the Zoom class meeting link prior to the beginning of the course. Participants will need an electronic device equipped with a reliable Internet connection, built-in or external microphone, and a built-in or external webcam.

Course Description: This thirty-hour, online course is designed to provide Christian educators with knowledge of, and an appreciation for, the theological tradition that is foundational for the PC(USA), its historical contexts, and its contemporary significance for the life of the church. By means of focused reading assignments, on-line exchanges, class lectures, small group curriculum writing exercises, and personal research, students will be able to gain a basic understanding of the Reformed theological tradition.

Course Syllabus: The course syllabus is shared after participants register and within 1-2 weeks of the course start date. The list of required texts will be provided ahead of the course syllabus once registered.

Course Tuition:  $295, excludes cost of required texts, if register by September 6, 2021. (Note: Beginning September 7, a price increase of $25 will be added to registration. Register early and save).

CEUs:  3.0, certificates of course completion will be provided if all course requirements are met.
