Hanover County VA Treasurer issued the following announcement on Jan. 13

With the tragic passing of longtime Beaverdam District Supervisor Aubrey M. “Bucky” Stanley on Dec. 31, the district’s seat on the Board of Supervisors needs to be filled. The Board asks that any individual interested in serving in this position to contact any Board member prior to the close of business on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

To be considered, any nominee must reside in the Beaverdam District, must be a qualified voter and must meet state qualifications to hold public office.

Board members will review the qualifications and conduct interviews in individual or two-by-two conversations, with the Board hoping to make an appointment at their January 26 meeting.

This would be an interim appointment. If the appointment is made on January 26, the interim representative of the Beaverdam District will be sworn in and seated at the Board’s February 9 meeting.

The new Beaverdam District representative would serve until November if Circuit Court Judge Overton Harris grants the County’s petition to order a special election for the seat to be held on the date of the General Election, which is November 8 this year.

Contact information for all Board members is located on the Board of Supervisors webpage
