Davidson sworn in as Beaverdam District Supervisor

28

Hanover County issued the following announcement on Feb. 3

R. Allen Davidson has been sworn in by Judge J. Overton Harris as the Beaverdam District's interim representative on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors. Davidson's first meeting on the Board will be Wednesday, Feb. 9.

"Today, I am humbled to be sworn in as the Interim Supervisor for the Beaverdam District," Davidson said. "I would like to thank the members of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors for their support and vote of confidence. And foremost, to the constituents of the Beaverdam District, please know that I am committed to serving each of you to the best of my ability. I hope we can speak openly, share ideas and work together, continuing to make our community great."

Davidson served the citizens of Hanover County in the Sheriff's Office for over 30 years. After retiring in 2020, he joined private industry in Corporate Intelligence and Security.

"My wife and I have been residents of the Beaverdam District since 1996, where we raised our two daughters who are now married and have blessed us with four grandchildren," Davidson said.

The Board appointed Davidson on January 26 from a field of 14 candidates who nominated themselves for consideration. The appointment was made necessary by the tragic passing of longtime Beaverdam District representative Aubrey M. Stanley on December 31.

Davidson will serve on the Board until someone is elected to fill the Beaverdam District seat in a special election to be held in November. Davidson said he does not plan to be a candidate in that special election.

Judge Harris performed the swearing in on February 3. Harris thanked Davidson for his commitment of service to the county.
