PAUL KEYES NAMED TO THE VBCA'S INAUGURAL HALL OF FAME CLASS
On Dec. 9 as part of the Virginia Baseball Coaches Association's 2022 Convention VCU Baseball's all-time winningest coach, the late Paul Keyes, will be named to the VBCA's inaugural Hall of Fame Class joining nine others to make up a class of 10 honorees.
The ceremony will take place at the Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks, with the reception beginning at 7 p.m. The Hall of Fame reception is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased from the VBCA by clicking here.
Keyes, who passed away from cancer in 2012, recorded an all-time record of 603-423-1 in the 18 years he was at the helm of VCU Baseball. From 1995-2012 Keyes ran the show and during that time the Rams saw unprecedented success, reaching eight NCAA Regionals, winning five Colonial Athletic Association Conference titles and from 1996-2007 the Rams posted a winning record in 12 straight seasons.
Four times during Keyes' time at VCU the Rams won at least 40 games, and twice he led the Rams to a program record 46 wins.
In 1998 Keyes led the Rams to a 46-15 season, winning both the CAA regular season title and the CAA Tournament title on their way to an NCAA Regionals appearance. And in 2003, Keyes led the Rams to yet another 46-win season, finishing 46-13 on their way to collecting another CAA regular and tournament championship and a NCAA Regionals appearance.
