The Short Story: Freshman guard Mary-Anna Asare scored the game-winning basket on a driving layup with 3.2 seconds left in the opening game of the Paradise Jam.
OPENING TIP:
- Sarah Te-Biasu scored a team-high 14 points along with three assists and just one turnover. She shot 5-of-10 from the field and was 3-of-3 at the free throw line
- Samantha Robinson scored a season-high 10 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Robinson shot 5-of-9 from the floor
- Mary-Anna Asare was the third Ram in double figures, scoring 11 points along with three boards
- VCU shot a season-high 48.2 percent from the field despite going just 3-of-13 from 3-point range. The Rams limited Seton Hall to shoot just 39 percent overall
- VCU outscored the Pirates 38-24 in the paint and 21-11 off the bench

- On the ensuing possession, VCU ran the clock down before Te-Biasu drove into the paint and pass to Asare on the baseline for the game-winning layup
- Seton Hall's Sidney Cooks missed her shot attempt on the game's final possession as the Rams held on for the win
