Shooting in Charlottesville

Shooting in Charlottesville

Our condolences to the UVA community and the families and friends of those killed, injured and impacted by the shooting.

To our VCU community:

I know you join me in sending our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by yesterday’s shooting at the University of Virginia. Our condolences to the UVA community and the families and friends of those killed, injured and impacted by the shooting. VCU has offered our assistance to the UVA community and we stand with them during this terrible time.

I have directed that VCU Police have an increased presence on our campus. We are dedicated to promoting a safe and secure environment for learning, living, working and visiting.

For more information about how VCU Police works to keep our campus safe, please visit police.vcu.edu/.

During difficult moments such as these, it is important to remember that we draw strength from each other as members of our compassionate and caring VCU community. Support is available for students, faculty and staff at counseling.vcu.edu.

While sending our best to UVA, let us also care for each other today and every day.

Sincerely,

Michael Rao, Ph.D.President, VCU and VCU Health
