irginia Union University's Robert Osborne scored 24 points and 14 rebounds as the Panthers downed defending CIAA Champion Fayetteville State University 66-61 on Sunday, November 27, in Fayetteville, N.C.
VUU's Devon Sims added 15 points in the win which raised Virginia Union's record to 6-1.
"That was a very good road win for us against the defending CIAA Champs," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler. "I thought the guys showed a lot of grit down the stretch and got stops when we needed them. We always talk about keeping wheels turning with our guys off the bench and today it was Mahzi Thames, Tahj Harding, Charles Tart, Troy Joseph, and Brian Ayafor all came in and contributed throughout the game. Robbie Osborne was fantastic today scoring and rebounding. Devon Sims continues to give us solid numbers and great senior leadership.
Virginia Union will now return to Richmond, Va., to open the home season when the Panthers face Augusta University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3.
